
WUDHU & GHUSL IS ALLOWED WITH THE FOLLOWING WATER
Rain water
Well water
Spring, sea or river water
Water of melting snow or hail
Water of a big tank or pond
WUDHU & GHUSL ARE NOT ALLOWED WITH THE FOLLOWING WATER
All unclean or impure water
Water extracted from fruit and trees
Water that has changed its color, taste and smell and becomes thick because something was soaked in it
Small quantity of water in which something unclean has fallen, eg. urine, blood, stool or wine or some animal had died after falling into it
Used water of Wudhu or Ghusl
Water left over after drinking by haraam animals, eg. dogs, pigs or animals of prey
Water which a cat drinks ummediately after eating a mouse is unclean
Water left by a person who has just drunk wine is unclean
THE NIYYAT (INTENTION)
It is SUNNAT to make the niyyat for Wudhu
For Wudhu, one should make the niyyat at heart that I am performing Wudhu to get rid of my need for Wudhu
How?
With your left hand, wash your right hand from fingertips to wrist (x3).
With your right hand, wash your left hand from fingertips to wrist (x3).
With your right hand, take water and rinse out your mouth (x3).
With your left hand, take water and rinse out your nose (x3).
With both hands, wash your face from ear to ear, chin to forehead (x3).
With your left hand, wash your right hand from your fingertips to your elbow (x3).
With your right hand, wash your left hand from your fingertips to your elbow (x3).
Then do "Masah" which is: Move the palm of the wet hand over the head, starting from tye top of the forhead to the back and pass both hands over the back of the head to the neck.Then, rub wet fingers into the grooves of both ears and holes and also pass the wet thumbs behind the ears.Pass the backs of the wet hand over the back of the neck.
Then, wash your right foot (x3).
Then, wash your left foot (x3).
In case if the socks are put on after an ABLUTION (WUDHU) is made, then during the next 24 hours, it is enough to pass wet fingers over them in making an ABLUTION instead of having to wash the feet each time, provided these have not been taken off during this period of time. If someone on journey, the traveler can make MASSAH i.e. passing wet fingers over socks up to three days.
THERE ARE FOUR FARADH (REQUIREMENTS) IN WUDHU
Washing the face from the forehead to the lower portion of the chin and from one ear lobe to the other
Washing of both the arms, including the elbows, once
Doing masah of a quarter of the head once
Washing of both the feet, including the ankles, once.
* If a Fardh is left out, the Wudhu is incomplete.
THERE ARE THIRTEEN SUNNATS IN WUDHU
Niyyat (intention)
Reciting of Bismillah
Washing of the hands thrice upto the wrists
Brushing the teeth by miswaak
Gargling three times
Passing water into the nostrils thrice
Khilal of the beard
Khilal of the fingers and toes
Washing of each part three times
Masah of the whole head once
Masah of both the ears once
Wudhu done systematically
Washing of each part one after the other without pause, so no part dries up before the Wudhu is completed.
* If a Sunnat is left out, the Wudhu is complete but the full Sawaab (reward) of Wudhu is not gained.
THERE ARE FIVE MUSTAHABS IN WUDHU
To begin from the right
To make Masah of the nape
Not to take assistance from anyone
To face the Qibla
To sit on a high and clean place.
* Carrying out a Mustahab act brings Sawaab (reward) but no sin if left out.
THERE ARE FOUR MAKROOHS IN WUDHU
To make Wudhu in a dirty place
To clean the nose with the right hand
To talk of worldly affairs
To do Wudhu against the Sunnat.
* Committing of a Makrooh act in Wudhu causes the full blessing of Wudhu to be lost, although the Wudhu will not have to be repeated.
